In my eyes, there are two underdog options today. One that is the best matchup on the schedule and one of the absolute worst. Then, I realized I could either side with the Oakland A’s on the road, or the New York Mets at home. When you put it that way it becomes a lot easier.

We’re riding with Timmy Trumpet and the Mets tonight as our underdog of the day.

Best MLB Underdog Pick Today

Clayton Kershaw is back from injury. He is obviously an elite starting pitcher and has been for years, but tonight we are going to try to capitalize on some rust. His last start was August 4, when he gave up two runs over four innings. He left with an injury and hasn’t pitched since.

Kershaw has a 2.64 ERA, but will have a tough test in the rubber match today. The Mets go with Chris Bassitt who has a 3.34 ERA himself. New York has won his last six starts and are 16-8 in his starts this season. His last outing was not fantastic, giving up four over six, but he had a stretch of three straight scoreless starts and can recapture that in a big outing today.

New York got familiar with an L.A. lefty last night with Tyler Anderson on the mound and might have a chance to get to Kershaw tonight. I like anytime I can get one of the best teams in the MLB at home as an underdog.

The Mets have momentum and are riding high after Timmy Trumpet's performance for Edwin Díaz last night and if we hear the trumpets play again in Queens, you know it's lights out.

PICK: Mets +112
