Game 2 of the ALCS takes place tonight, with the Houston Astros looking to protect home field and take a 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees. The Astros took a 2-0 lead over the Yankees in the 2017 ALCS, but failed to do so in 2019.

The Astros are a perfect 4-0 against the Yankees at home this season. However, with the weather situation set to be different than normal, will the Yankees be able to tie this series?

Is the Roof Open at Minute Maid Park tonight?

This is just the second time all season the Astros will play with their roof open. The Astros lost that game to the Toronto Blue Jays. The roof was closed in Game 1 due to cold weather, but with the temperature coming under the normal Texas heat, it will be open.

Do the Astros Have an Edge When the Roof is Open vs. Closed?

While Houston went 0-1 this year with the roof open, the previous season they went 6-1 straight up. So there's not enough of a sample that indicates one true advantage over the other.

Many Astros players believe having the roof closed allows for a major home field advantage with the crowd noise remaining in the building.

Back in 2005, Astros infielder Chris Burke said that Major League Baseball forced them to open the roof during the World Series vs. the Chicago White Sox, citing their frustration at the decision due to the the noise being a huge part of their home field advantage.

Since the decision was made official, the moneyline odds for the Yankees have shifted slightly from +135 to +120, but it would be purely speculative to declare the line move is due to the roof being open.
