MLS Odds: Seattle Sounders Take Over Top Spot in Standings
The MLS is gearing up for its homestretch and there has been movement among the top three teams. At the All-Star break, there was a three-way tie at the top of the odds standings, but the tie is now broken.
The New England Revolution, Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City were all +700. Now -- according to WynnBET -- the Seattle Sounders are in full control of the top seed with +550 odds. The Revolution are +600 and Sporting Kansas City has fallen to third with +650 odds.
Orlando City is right behind all three of these teams with +700 odds, but it is highly unlikely they catch up to New England in the Eastern Conference. Orlando City is 15 points behind the Revolution.
Seattle being at the top of the odds list is still a slight towards the Revolution, who are seven points ahead of the Sounders. New England has the most potent offense in the MLS and has a great home-field advantage.
At home, New England is 9-1-1. Seattle, on the other hand, isn't quite as dominant -- with its record at home 5-2-4.
Nevertheless, the Sounders are on their way to contend for the top seed and make it back to the MLS Cup Final. Seattle lost to Columbus Crew 3-0 last season, setting them up for a revenge tour this year.
Seattle also has the same goal differential (+18) as the Revolution. If the Sounders can get on a roll, they could easily make up the ground and get the top seed in the actual standings.
For now, they’ll have to settle for being the betting favorites.
