Harry Kane took home the Premier League Golden Boot award last season for the league’s highest-scoring player. He narrowly edged out Mohamed Salah 23-22 in what was one of the most exciting races in recent memory. It would have been Salah’s third Golden Boot win after sharing the award with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2017/18 and Sadio Mane in 2018/19.

The race is on once more as the 2021-22 season gets deeper into play with some new names atop the list of contenders. First off, let’s review the current odds at WynnBET Sportsbook for the EPL Golden Boot Award.

  • Mohamed Salah | -300
  • Cristiano Ronaldo | +800
  • Diogo Jota | +1200
  • Harry Kane | +2500
  • Jamie Vardy | +2500
  • Romelu Lukaku | +3300
  • Sadio Mane | +3300
  • Son-Heung Min | +3300
  • Michail Antonio | +5000

The reigning top-scorer, Kane, is currently 25/1 to win the award despite having only four goals this season and ranking out of the top 25 in the EPL. Likewise, Cristiano Ronaldo is second in the odds but is tied for the fourth-highest scorer with seven other players at the moment. Salah’s teammate Diogo Jota is the only other player in double digits in the EPL, other than Salah, with 10 goals while Jamie Vardy has nine. Salah has certainly earned his status as a heavy favorite after scoring 16 goals in the 20 games he has played this year. Salah is also second in the EPL in assists behind teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

As it stands, the only real threat in the short term is Jota. Vardy has the numbers but continues to be plagued by injuries and could miss more time in the future while Kane is way off the pace. Ronaldo would have to have an epic second half to catch up and I don’t think he has it in him this season. Salah might not have the value he once did but he is also a pretty sure bet at this point in the year.
