Play or Pass: Monday Night Football Odell Beckham Jr. Props for Rams vs. 49ers
By Ben Heisler
Odell Beckham Jr. Act III makes his Hollywood debut tonight when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers as 3.5-point favorites on the road this evening in Santa Clara, Calif.
The 29-year old wide receiver was released by the Browns ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline, with none of the 31 other teams deciding to claim him off waivers. After becoming a free agent, Beckham signed with the Rams over other rumored clubs like the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.
Ahead of his first game as a member of the Rams, WynnBET Sportsbook has a handful of newly released Odell Beckham Jr. prop bets available. At the time of this article being published, there have not been props released on his number of receptions or receiving yards.
Let's go through them together and determine if they're worth a play, or if we'll pass on the value.
Odell Beckham Jr. Monday Night Football Prop Bets
- Odell Beckham Jr. Anytime TD Scorer (+225)
- Odell Beckham Jr. Anytime TD Scorer and Team to Win (+420)
- Odell Backham Jr. First TD Scorer (+950)
Odell Beckham Anytime TD Scorer (+225)
During his heyday, Beckham was amongst the league's best in contested catches and 50/50 balls in the end zone. In his first three years, he averaged just under 12 touchdowns a season!
The problem is it's been a long time since we've seen that OBJ with just 16 touchdowns over his last FIVE seasons.
However, WynnBET's line is also more favorable than the consensus odds of +200, indicating there could be slight value for him to score his first touchdown of the year.
Ultimately, I think it's worth a play as both the Rams and OBJ understand how much they need him to make an impact in the second half of the season with Robert Woods going on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Look for Stafford to give Beckham Jr. plenty of red zone chances to make a play and showcase his skillset to the rest of the league who passed up on him during the waiver-wire process.
PLAY (+225)
Odell Beckham Anytime TD Scorer and Team to Win (+420)
This one I will stay away from as I have the 49ers winning tonight's game both against the spread and outright on the latest "Bet & Breakfast" podcast.
Our Reed Wallach made a really strong point about Kyle Shanahan in this particular spot on the pod, stating has won the last four games against Sean McVay, including covering in three of them.
The two-way play's odds doesn't feel like enough value for me to jump on board, even though I expect Beckham to get into the end zone.
PASS
Odell Beckham First TD Scorer (+950)
Another play that I think is worth a light dart throw, especially as both teams are trying to establish their offensive identity against each other.
Stafford made two costly mistakes last week and can't afford any more brutal turnovers as the Rams look to get back on track. With scripted plays likely set for the first 15 or so offensive possessions, it wouldn't be any surprise if Beckham is an active part of the game plan early to get him and Stafford in rhythm together.
I also expect the Rams and Stafford to take plenty of deep shots on San Francisco tonight as well. The 49ers lead the NFL with the most pass interference calls this season. That could set up nicely for those 50/50 shots we discussed earlier.
