Monmouth vs. Seton Hall Prediction and Odds for Wednesday, November 9 (Go UNDER in Season Opener)
By Peter Dewey
New Seton Hall head coach, Shaheen Holloway, will face a familiar opponent in his debut for the team, as the former Saint Peter’s head coach will get a former MAAC opponent, Monmouth, on Wednesday night.
Holloway led the Peacocks on an incredible run in the NCAA Tournament as a 15 seed last season, and now he returns to his alma mater looking to establish Seton Hall as a top team in the Big East this season.
Monmouth and head coach, King Rice, are also embarking on a new journey, leaving the MAAC to join the Colonial this season. The Hawks were dominant in non-conference play last season against the spread, going 10-1. This will be a tall order against Seton Hall, but can Rice’s team play up to the competition?

Monmouth vs. Seton Hall Prediction and Pick
As good as Monmouth was last season, Rice has his work cut out for him in the 2022-23 season after not bringing in a single player in the transfer portal.
The Hawks are young and inexperienced, losing all five of its starters from last year. Simply put, this isn’t the same team that was great ATS in non-conference play last season. Now in a new conference, the Hawks may be in a bit of a rebuilding year.
Holloway has an advantage of years of coaching against Rice, and now he has superior talent in this matchup.
The Pirates have a ton of size that will be tough for Monmouth’s smaller backcourt to deal with. Plus, Holloway swept the Hawks at Saint Peter’s last season. I’m not sure if the Pirates will be able to cover this massive spread, but I think they slow down an inexperienced Hawks team with their defense.
I love the UNDER in this game, as well as Monmouth’s team total UNDER if you can find one out there.
