The NCAA Tournament is right around the corner, but before we begin to key in on who will win the National Championship, let's look back at the beginning of the season and see who has fallen short of expectations.

We went back in the archives to find the National Championship odds from WynnBET Sportsbook before the season, and here are four that have fallen way short of expectations in 2021-2022.

Michigan (+900)

The Wolverines were the second choice to win the National Championship heading into the season and now find themselves firmly on the Tournament bubble. Currently, Michigan is +10000 to win cut down the nets in New Orleans.

The team is fighting for their lives, but will have to do it without their head coach Juwan Howard for the remainder of the regular season in what has been an utter disappoint for the school.

Michigan does have fine metrics, ranking 30th in KenPom, behind the stellar play of sophomore big man Hunter Dickinson. However, the seven footer can only do so much as the Wolverines have been gashed on defense at times this season. Overall, the team is 15-11 and 9-7 in Big Ten play.

This has been a massive fall from grace for Michigan after making the Elite 8 last season as a No. 1 seed.

Memphis (+1700)

Memphis had high hopes for this season after Penny Hardaway brought in a stellar recruiting class centered around Jalen Duren and Emoni Bates. However, things have gone far from planned with Bates struggling at the next level after he reclassified and the Tigers looked all out of sorts, falling to 9-8 in late January.

The team is currently +15000 at WynnBET as of this writing as they find themselves on the bubble, probably needing a run in the AAC Tournament to lock up a bid. Memphis has started to look the part of a Tournament dark horse (winners of seven of eight) ironically with Bates out of the lineup, but are far from safe as an at-large bid.

The Tigers are elite on defense and have rounded into form on offense a bit, ranking inside the top 70 in adjusted efficiency on both sides of the ball. We'll see if the team can make the dance, which they actually profile as a dangerous team as a double digit seed, but this season has been a bumpy one to say the least.

Florida State (+2250)

We have gotten used to Florida State as an ACC contender, but in a down year for the conference as a whole, no team has been more underwhelming than the Seminoles, who are on the NIT bubble more than the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Granted, the team has been plagued by injuries, but the wheels have come off for Leonard Hamilton's club, who is 14-13 on the year and have dropped eight of nine games.

If people jumped on Leonard Hamilton's team before the season, you can throw out the ticket, they currently are +30000 at WynnBET to win it all (don't bet this).
