Who’s ready to crown a national champion in men's college basketball Monday night?

Two of the most storied programs in NCAA Tournament history face off as Hubert Davis leads the North Carolina Tar Heels against Bill Self’s Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas is a four-point favorite in this game at WynnBET Sportsbook, but the Jayhawks have not been great in title games in recent history. Dating back to 1988, both of these teams have appeared in the National Championship game five times.

However, the Tar Heels have fared much better straight up and against the spread. North Carolina is 4-1 in those five games, and it has also covered in each of the wins. The Tar Heels’ only ATS loss came on Kris Jenkins’ buzzer beater when UNC lost to Villanova in the title game.

As for Kansas, well, things get a bit murky

The Jayhawks are just 1-4 in national title games, and they’ve covered the spread just twice. One of those came in a loss to Oklahoma in 1988, as the Jayhawks were able to cover as eight-point underdogs.

You can’t rely solely on these trends, especially in college hoops, as the teams vary from year-to-year.

North Carolina has also been on fire as of late, covering in nine of its last 10 games. Head coach Hubert Davis has found his rotation, and UNC has shown that it is much more talented than a No. 8 seed in this tournament.

I have a strong lean with the Tar Heels right now, but I haven’t officially placed a wager on this game. The historical trends favor the Tar Heels, but maybe this is a chance for Bill Self and company to rewrite the history books around the program in big games.
