A pair of 2-3 squads square off today in hopes of getting back to .500 as the Atlanta Braves host the Washington Nationals in the second contest of a three-game series.

Washington throttled Atlanta 11-2 yesterday in a dominant performance. The Nats will send lefty Patrick Corbin to the mound. Corbin lost on opening day to the Mets but only surrendered two runs over four innings of work.

Touki Toussaint gets the nod for the Braves. The 25-year-old righty has a cannon for an arm with sky-high strikeout numbers, but he needs to harness his power a bit and can be knocked around.

Will Atlanta get revenge after yesterday's embarrassing result or will the Nationals' bats stay hot against the flame-throwing youngster?

Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help us find out:

Nationals vs Braves Prediction and Pick

There's just something about young pitchers with tons of talent that need to harness that power that makes me smile. I love Toussaint's potential. Against a Nationals offense that's averaging over nine strikeouts per game as a team, he could have a huge day.

However, he needs to avoid bats to be successful. Which, duh. But Washington's hitters are squaring the ball up well, and if Toussaint doesn't control his location then you'll hear loud cracks of the bat early and often.

It's fortunate, then, that the Braves get to face one of my favorite pitchers in baseball to fade. Patrick Corbin went 0-3 against Atlanta last year with an 8.44 ERA and was a disaster for most of 2021.

In July and August, Washington went 2-9 in Corbin's starts as he amassed a horrific 7.56 ERA. Atlanta should have no problem scoring on him today and I love the value we're getting on the Braves. Toussaint surrendered two or fewer runs in six of his first seven starts and I think he performs well today.

Give me Atlanta on the run line as Toussaint impresses and the Braves' bats go to town on Corbin.

Pick: Braves -1.5 (+125)
