Nationals vs. Mariners Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, August 23 (Back Seattle's Offense and Suarez's Hot Bat)
By Josh Yourish
After a day off on the west coast, the Washington Nationals are up in Washington state to take on the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners are looking to do more with a stretch of games against losing teams. They have yet to truly capitalize on consecutive series against the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics and now the Nats. They are 5-4 in those nine games with two on deck with Washington.
Tonight, Robbie Ray starts for Seattle and Erick Fedde takes the mound for Washington. Odds are available for this Washington D.C. vs. Washington state matchup at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Nationals vs. Mariners Prediction and Pick
Erick Fedde has made 19 starts for the Nats this season and miraculously, they are 10-9 in those starts. That is despite the team’s 41-82 overall record and his personal 4.95 ERA. The Nationals have found a way to win in spite of Fedde’s performances. He is in the bottom 15% of the MLB in expected ERA, expected batting average, strikeout rate, walk rate, hard hit rate, and whiff rate. He is an objectively bad major league pitcher for the worst team in baseball and yet they are 10-9 in his starts.
He will likely be .500 after today. Robbie Ray has a solid 3.87 ERA and a Fielding Independent Pitching just over four. He is not an ace or true top of the line starter they thought they were acquiring in Seattle, but he is more than serviceable in his age 30 season.
The bigger reason for my belief in Seattle is their offense. They have the second best OPS in the league over the past week and fourth most runs. Over that time, Eugenio Suarez has three home runs, eight RBI and a 1.206 OPS. He is carrying the offense and if this team just gets serviceable pitching right now, they will win big.
Pick: Mariners -1.5 (-125)
