Josiah Gray makes the start of Friday night for Washington and Kyle Gibson takes the mound for the Phillies at home.

Nationals vs. Phillies Prediction and Pick
The Phillies need to win these games against Washington if they want to solidify themselves as a Wild Card team in the National League. They will have a much better chance to do that now that Juan Soto is in a Padres uniform. That may sound counterintuitive because the Phillies are competing against San Diego for the Wild Card spot, but the trade may work in their favor.
Yes, the #Phillies are vying with the Soto-enhanced Padres for a playoff spot. But they have 11 games left vs. the Soto-less Nationals, including a four-game series this week. Since 2018, Soto batted .300/.431/.579 with 18 homers in 67 games against them.

Soto killed Philly and now that he is out of the way the Phillies should roll right over the Nats.
Honestly, I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I gave out the Nationals as a pick right now. That organization is in shambles just a few years after winning a World Series and even with Kyle Gibson, who has not been good for the Phillies, on the mound in this one I still can't do it. For what it's worth Josiah Gray has been even a little bit worse than Gibson.
