The Navy Midshipmen are on the road on Wednesday for a noon matchup with the Lipscomb Bisons on Wednesday.

Navy hasn’t played a team inside KenPom’s top 190 so far this season, but the team has taken care of business, going 5-1 in its first six games. The team relies heavily on seniors Tyler Nelson, Daniel Deaver and Sean Yoder, who all are averaging at least 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season.

The Bisons, who come into this matchup at 4-2, played Notre Dame (the No. 77 team in KenPom) tight earlier this season, losing by one point. Lipscomb is 3-0 at home this season and is looking to improve upon that record Wednesday.

Let’s take a look at the latest odds for this matchup:

Navy vs. Lipscomb Odds, Spread and Total

Navy vs. Lipscomb Prediction and Pick

Lipscomb isn’t a great defensive team, but its offensive profile on KenPom is one of the best you’ll see for a team ranked No. 170 in the country.

The Bisons rank 41st in the country in effective field goal percentage, 10th in turnover percentage, 55th in 3-point percentage and 108th in adjusted offensive efficiency.

Outside of the loss to Notre Dame, the team has put up at least 72 points in every game this season.

Can Navy compete with this Bisons attack?

Well, the team’s 3-point shooting certainly gives them a chance to. The Midshipmen are 13th in the country in 3-point percentage (41.1 percent) and 19th in effective field goal percentage.

Usually I’d lean to the OVER with a matchup like this, but both of these teams are outside the top-200 in adjusted tempo, so we should see a slower pace on Wednesday.

Instead, I’m going to back Navy to cover in this game. Lipscomb has played some better opponents this season, but Navy is a much better defensive team. The Midshipmen haven’t fallen victim to a soft schedule, winning four games by nine or more points.

With a veteran roster and a strong shooting attack, Navy can keep this game close, if not win.
