NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Anfernee Simons, Spurs-Kings on Thursday)
By Peter Dewey
We’re fresh off a SWEEP in the NBA Best Bets column, and I’m looking to carry the momentum into the weekend with two plays for the three-game slate on Thursday night.
Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons has a favorable matchup, and prop number, against the Brooklyn Nets tonight, and I love a total play in the San Antonio Spurs-Sacramento Kings matchup.
Let’s jump into the picks for Thursday, November 17:
NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record for 2022-23 Season: 47-42-1 (-0.1054 units)
NBA Best Bets Today
- Anfernee Simons OVER 20.5 Points (-105)
- San Antonio Spurs-Sacramento Kings OVER 237 (-110)
Anfernee Simons OVER 20.5 Points (-105)
Anfernee Simons has just four games this season where he’s fallen below this mark, averaging 22.3 points per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Simons has seen a ton of volume this season, taking 18.2 shots per game and he has just one game where he attempted less than 16 shots.
The Brooklyn Nets are still bottom-10 in the NBA in defensive rating this season, and there’s no doubt that Portland’s offense runs through Damian Lillard and Simons. There’s some value on this line at just 20.5.
San Antonio Spurs-Sacramento Kings OVER 237 (-110)
The San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings are built for a shootout, as both teams are top 10 in the NBA in pace, bottom five in defensive rating and the Kings rank second in offensive rating.
San Antonio’s offense may not be as efficient, but these teams are going to push the ball all night.
The Kings have landed on or gone over 237 points in four of their last six games. While the Spurs haven’t gone OVER this number nearly as much, but they give up the most points per game in the NBA and rank 15th in points per game scored.
Let’s root for points in Sacramento.
