NBA Best Bets Today: Predictions for Cade Cunningham, Knicks and Warriors
By Peter Dewey
It's a new week in the NBA, and yours truly is looking to shake off a rough NBA betting week and turn things around this week.
If you're still looking to #FadeDew, I don't blame you, but I've got a good feeling about a few picks heading into tonight's five-game slate.
The Golden State Warriors remain as hot as ever this season, and I'm backing them again tonight facing a struggling Toronto Raptors team, and there's a Cade Cunningham prop that I love as well.
Here are tonight's picks, with all odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record: 17-25-1 (-9.239 units)
NBA Best Bets Today
- New York Knicks +5.5 at Chicago Bulls (-110)
- Golden State Warriors -9.0 vs. Toronto Raptors (-110)
- Cade Cunningham OVER 20.5 Points and Assists (-120)
New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls: Knicks +5.5 (-110)
The Knicks have the awful problem of playing down (or up) to their competition this season. It’s a blessing and a curse, as New York has beaten the Philadelphia 76ers twice, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Bulls already this season, but also lost two games to the Orlando Magic.
The Knicks have been much better on the road (5-2 straight up and 4-3 ATS) than at home this season (4-5 straight up, 3-6 ATS), but this is a tough matchup on a back-to-back.
The biggest thing for the Knicks will be the play of Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker, who have struggled a lot lately. Fournier bounced back with a 19-point game on Saturday.
New York’s defense has improved after a poor start. The Knicks are now 17th in defensive rating, but their offensive rating has slipped to 11th in the NBA. Chicago is sixth and seventh in those respective categories, and has simply been the better team this year.
However, I think New York gets up for this game against Tom Thibodeau’s former team and makes the Bulls sweat one out. I’ll take the Knicks with the points.
Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors: Warriors -9.0 (-110)
Golden State still leads the NBA in net rating and has the No. 1 defensive rating and No. 3 offensive rating so far this season.
It’s hard not to back the Warriors with the way they’re playing, especially with the Raptors losing three of their last four games. Golden State has won 10 of its last 11 games, and nine of those wins have come by double-digits.
Toronto’s No. 21 defense is going to have a tough time containing Steph Curry, especially if Anunoby is unable to go.
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Detroit Pistons: Cade Cunningham OVER 20.5 Points and Assists (-120)
Cade Cunningham has been showing why he was the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft over his past few games. He’s averaging 20.0 points, 6.7 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game over his last three contests.
Cunningham and the Pistons take on a Los Angeles Lakers team that has taken a major step back defensively (20th in defensive rating this season) and just gave up 130 points to the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
