We’ve got a light slate in the NBA on Thursday with just two games, which unfortunately means a light NBA Best Bets column.

I was planning on betting on the Philadelphia 76ers against the Los Angeles Lakers, but I am not a fan of the line moving two points from Sixers -2.5 to -4.5 with the news that LeBron James is now questionable for this game.

Instead, I’m going to focus on the Golden State Warriors taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves and take a total and a player prop in the matchup.

Let’s break down the picks!

NBA Best Bets Record to Date

  • NBA Best Bets Record: 102-106-2

NBA Best Bets Today

  • D’Angelo Russell OVER 18.5 Points (-125)
  • Minnesota Timberwolves-Golden State Warriors UNDER 228.5 (-110)

D’Angelo Russell OVER 18.5 Points (-125)

Minnesota Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell has been solid since returning from the league’s health and safety protocols, scoring over 22 points in six of his last 10 games and three straight.

There have been duds for Russell, but he and the Wolves are facing a Golden State Warriors team that has slipped a bit defensively with Draymond Green out of the lineup.

In the 2021-22 campaign, Russell is putting up 19.1 points per game, and I think he can clear this number in the fourth straight game tonight.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors: UNDER 228.5 (-110)

Believe it or not, the Warriors are the second best under team in the NBA this season, hitting the under at a 63 percent clip (29-17-2).

The Warriors and Timberwolves are both top 10 in the NBA in defensive rating, and while the Wolves like to push the pace, I think Golden State controls things at home.

The Warriors have slipped a bit on defense without Draymond Green, but they have played five of their last six games under this number and have allowed just 92 points in each of their last two games.

I’ll back the under since I think Minnesota’s fast paced play is inflating this total.

Peter Dewey’s betting record is 102-106-2 (-13.38 units) in the NBA this season. You can find all of his picks here.
