NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Domantas Sabonis and Pacers-Nets on Monday)
By Peter Dewey
Another day, another NBA Best Bets column, where we're running hot through the first two weeks of the NBA season!
After going 3-1 on Sunday, I have two player props and a spread pick to bet on Monday. There are a couple of crazy betting trends in the NBA today, including one for the struggling Brooklyn Nets.
Plus, Giannis Antetokounmpo's MVP season continues when he hosts the Detroit Pistons with the Milwaukee Bucks looking to move to 6-0.
You're here for the picks, so let's dive in:
NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record for 2022-23 Season: 25-15-1 (+7.346 units)
NBA Best Bets Today
- Domantas Sabonis UNDER 34.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
- Indiana Pacers +8.5 vs. Brooklyn Nets (-110)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo OVER 50.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
Domantas Sabonis UNDER 34.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
Domantas Sabonis is actually taking a bit of a step back on offense for the Sacramento Kings, taking just 9.4 shots per game after attempting 13.5 shots per game when he joined the Kings last season.
Part of that has been because of the play of rookie Keegan Murray, but it’s led to Sabonis going under this number in four of his five games this season.
The only game Sabonis went OVER he grabbed 14 rebounds against the Golden State Warriors, and now he’s taking on a Charlotte team that has a plethora of bigs to throw at him despite the team’s guard injuries.
Indiana Pacers +8.5 vs. Brooklyn Nets (-110)
Sure, on talent alone the Nets deserve to be favored in this game, but by 8.5 points?
Not a chance in hell.
Brooklyn is 28th in the NBA in net rating this season, and it looks like one of the league’s worst teams rather than a title contender that we all expected entering this season.
The Pacers are 3-4 against the spread this season, but the Nets are just 1-5 ATS and dating back to last season they are just 6-31-1 against the spread as home favorites!
As good as Durant and Irving are, I don’t think this team will defend enough to blow out a hungry young Pacers team on Monday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo OVER 50.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing arguably his best basketball of his career, and he’s cleared this number in every game except the team’s season opener when he scored 21 points.
Obviously Giannis is going to need to score a lot to get to this number tonight, but the Detroit Pistons line up perfectly for him, ranking 29th in defensive rating and 20th in rebounding percentage.
Plus, the Pistons don’t have anyone outside of 18-year-old rookie Jalen Duren who can even match up with Giannis size wise. Don’t overthink this one.
