NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Julius Randle, Keegan Murray and Knicks-Jazz)
By Peter Dewey
We’re back on track in the NBA Best Bets column, hitting two of yesterday’s three plays!
With five games in The Association on Tuesday night, I have two player props and one spread pick that I’m eyeing.
Two of the plays are coming from the New York Knicks-Utah Jazz matchup, a spot where I think Julius Randle can thrive for New York.
Let’s get into today’s picks:
NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record for 2022-23 Season: 42-39-1 (-1.1428 units)
NBA Best Bets Today
- Keegan Murray OVER 11.5 Points (-115)
- Utah Jazz -4.5 (-110) vs. New York Knicks
- Julius Randle OVER 8.5 Rebounds (-120)
Keegan Murray OVER 11.5 Points
Betting on Keegan Murray has been a bit of a rollercoaster this season, but when he receives adequate usage, he’s easily clearing this prop.
Murray has played in 11 games this season for the Kings, and there is an obvious trend developing. Murray has cleared this line in every game he’s attempted double-digit shots, putting up 17.4 points on 13.1 attempts in those games.
He’s failed to clear it in his other four games, taking just 5.8 shots per game in those matchups. It’s pretty clear the Kings have to keep him involved, so I’ll back his OVER tonight.
Utah Jazz -4.5 (-110) vs. New York Knicks
It was only a matter of time before the Jazz lost a few games, but they are poised for a bounce back on Tuesday against the Knicks.
New York is just 2-4 on the road this season, and the lack of defense from the team is extremely concerning against a Utah team that ranks seventh in the league in effective field goal percentage. The Jazz can shoot the rock, and the Knicks allow the second most 3-pointers per game this season at 14.1.
The Knicks’ offense has been a middle-of-the-pack unit so far this season, so I think they'll have trouble keeping pace with Utah tonight. Remember, New York scored 135 points and lost (!!) on Sunday.
The Jazz are 5-0 at home and 4-1 against the spread, winning by an average margin of 13.8 points. Even though Utah has exceeded preseason expectations, 4.5 points is too short of a line tonight.
Julius Randle OVER 8.5 Rebounds (-120)
Julius Randle is averaging over nine rebounds per game this season, and he’s been solid on the offensive glass as well, grabbing 2.5 offensive boards per game this season.
Randle is still playing big minutes, especially with Mitchell Robinson out of the lineup, so they’ll need him on the glass against Utah tonight.
Of the four games Randle has missed this prop, two came against the Detroit Pistons and one came in a loss to Atlanta where he played less than 30 minutes. If the Knicks hang around, Randle should get plenty of chances to hit the glass tonight.
