NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Steph Curry, Karl-Anthony Towns and Suns-Hawks)
By Peter Dewey
After a perfect day on Tuesday, our NBA Best Bets wan a freezing cold 0-for-5 on Wednesday. Like I've always said, I'm going to tell you guys when I'm hot and when I'm cold.
To be honest, I don't know where I am between those two extremes heading into tonight's slate, so I'm going to go heavy player prop on two players I trust in tonight's action.
Let's get into the picks for Thursday, Feb. 3:

NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record: 108-118-2
NBA Best Bets Today
- Phoenix Suns -4 vs. Atlanta Hawks (-110)
- Steph Curry OVER 24.5 Points (-115)
- Karl-Anthony Towns to Record Double-Double (-140)
Phoenix Suns vs. Atlanta Hawks: Suns -4 (-110)
The Phoenix Suns are on an 11-game winning streak heading into Thursday’s matchup with the Atlanta Hawks.
Atlanta could be without Trae Young (game-time decision) in this game, but the Suns have gotten Deandre Ayton and Jae Crowder back in their last win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Either way, I love the Suns in this spot to move the winning streak to 12 games. Atlanta is just 1-3 against the spread as a home underdog this season, and the team’s defense has been a problem all season.
That’s not going to bode well against a Suns team that is third in the league in offensive rating and second in defensive rating and is 12-6 ATS as a road favorite.
Give me the Suns to cover this spread all day.
Steph Curry OVER 24.5 Points (-115)
The Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry are facing the Sacramento Kings, who are on the second night of a back-to-back, on Thursday.
The Kings come into this game with the No. 29 defensive rating in the NBA, and Curry is finally starting to shoot the ball well again, scoring 40 points in his last game and clearing this line in two of his last three.
It’s rare that we get Steph’s points prop at this number for an extended period of time, so I’m going to take a shot on him tonight.
Karl-Anthony Towns to Record Double-Double (-140)
There’s a lot of juice on this prop, but I can’t pass KAT up to double-double in this game. Towns is going to get the points, as he’s averaging 24.4 points per game and has scored 10-plus points in all but one game this season, but the rebounds is where I really like him.
The Detroit Pistons rank dead last in the NBA in rebounding percentage, and Towns has recorded double-digit rebounds in four of his last five games. If Cade Cunningham (questionable) sits for Detroit, there should be even more misses for KAT to clean the glass on tonight.
Peter Dewey’s betting record is 108-118-2 (-19.37 units) in the NBA this season. You can find all of his picks here.
