By Peter Dewey
We're back with some more NBA Best Bets following the league's Christmas Day slate where our best bet came through!
On Sunday, I'm looking at a few player props involving Jaren Jackson Jr. and Keldon Johnson, as well as a play on the total in the Memphis Grizzlies-Sacramento Kings matchup.

NBA Best Bets Today
- Memphis Grizzlies vs. Sacramento Kings: UNDER 225 (-110)
- Keldon Johnson OVER 26.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
- Jaren Jackson Jr. OVER 16.5 Points (-115)
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Sacramento Kings: UNDER 225 (-110)
The Memphis Grizzlies are basically back at full strength with Ja Morant healthy, and they’ll take on the Sacramento Kings, who could be getting De’Aaron Fox back, on Sunday.
While the Kings are 28th in the NBA in defensive rating heading into this game, I think we could be in line for a lower-scoring matchup than this total suggests.
The last Kings-Grizzlies game went over this number, but the Grizzlies’ defense has been much improved as of late, climbing to No. 16 in the NBA in defensive rating.
The Grizzlies have gone under this number in 10 of their previous 11 games, with the only time they played a game over 225 coming against the Kings.
Sacramento’s defense and fast-paced offense make it look like a perfect over team, but it is just 6-11 on overs at home this season. To further the trend, Memphis is just 5-8-1 on the over when it is the road team this season, and I think this is a spot to expect a slightly lower scoring game.
Keldon Johnson OVER 26.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-125)
The San Antonio Spurs are going to be without star guard Dejounte Murray on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons, and that should open up a bigger role for Johnson in this matchup.
Johnson is averaging 17.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game over his last seven matchups, and he’s shooting 54.3 percent from beyond the arc over that stretch.
I think this game Johnson could really see an expanded role on offense, as he’s cleared 14 shots just once over the last seven games and only seven times all season.
Even with Murray, Johnson has cleared this number in two of his last four games and has registered three straight contests with double-digits rebounds.
Jaren Jackson Jr. OVER 16.5 Points (-115)
The Grizzlies are facing a Kings team that struggles on defense, and while I do like the under in this one, I also love the over on Jaren Jackson Jr.’s points prop.
Jackson Jr. is averaging 16.5 points per game this season, but he put up 21 the last time these two teams faced off and has cleared this number in five of his last eight games.
Ja Morant’s return opens up things for Jackson Jr. on offense, and I think he will take advantage of a team that is dead least in the NBA in opponent points in the paint per game at 53.2.
