NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions for Seth Curry, Mavericks-Pelicans and Sixers-Bucks)
By Peter Dewey
We’re coming to a short break in the NBA season for the All-Star break, which is on one hand a sad time, but for myself, a New York Knicks fan, I really need a break from the team after their recent performances.
But I digress. We’re here to make some money betting on the NBA!
Tonight, I’ve got a couple road teams that I’m backing and a prop on Seth Curry as the Brooklyn Nets look for their second straight win.
Let’s get into today’s picks!

NBA Best Bets Record to Date
- NBA Best Bets Record: 127-134-2
NBA Best Bets Today
- Philadelphia 76ers +6.5 vs. Milwaukee Bucks (-115)
- Dallas Mavericks -2.5 vs. New Orleans Pelicans (-105)
- Seth Curry OVER 16.5 Points (-115)
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Milwaukee Bucks: Sixers +6.5 (-115)
The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to bounce back from a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics when they face the Milwaukee Bucks before heading into the All-Star break.
I know that Philly didn’t look good on Tuesday night against Boston, but the Sixers are still the best team in the NBA against the spread as a road underdog at 9-4 this season.
The Bucks are going to have to get contributions from deep in their bench to win this game, and it’s a big reason why they were upset by the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday at 11.5-point favorites.
Milwaukee is just 9-17 against the spread this season when favored at home, and the Bucks have generally been a tough team to bet on, going just 26-33 against the spread on the season.
As long as Embiid plays, the Sixers should be able to hang around in this game, and I think oddsmakers are overreacting to the blowout loss on Tuesday a little too much.
Give me Philly to cover on the road.
Dallas Mavericks vs. New Orleans Pelicans: Mavericks -2.5 (-105)
The Mavericks have been strong when favored on the road this season, going 7-5 against the spread, and I actually like them to cover this number on Thursday night.
The Pelicans are just 24th in the NBA in offensive rating this season, and I think they’ll struggle to score points and push the pace against Dallas’ No. 5 defense. The Mavericks love to play slow, ranking dead last in the NBA in pace, which means both sides are going to need to maximize their offensive possessions.
The Pelicans simply haven’t done that this season, as they are 27th in effective field goal percentage, 25th in turnover percentage and 25th in true shooting percentage.
While McCollum makes New Orleans more dangerous, I’m going to trust Luka Doncic, who has been fantastic as of late, to get the Mavs this win heading into the All-Star break.
Seth Curry OVER 16.5 Points (-115)
Seth Curry has only played two games in Brooklyn, but he’s put up 23 and 20 points in those games while shooting a combined 17-for-34 from the field.
With Brooklyn at home, the Nets will be without Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons once again, so I expect Curry to carry a major part of the scoring load again tonight.
The Wizards are bottom 10 in the NBA in defensive rating over their last 10 games, so points should be fairly easy to come by for one of the league’s best sharpshooters.
