NBA Betting Trends to Watch for Thursday, March 31 (Pistons on Fire, Nets Struggling at Home)
By Peter Dewey
Who’s ready for some more NBA trends?
Thursday’s action in the Association brings us five games to break down, but three trends stood out to me when looking over each matchup.
Remember, betting strictly on trends doesn’t guarantee a win, but it certainly helps bettors understand how certain teams fare in different situations.
That being said, I’m actually fading one of these trends tonight, but we’ll get into that a little later. Let’s break down the top ones for March 31:
Brooklyn Nets are 4-23-1 Against the Spread as Home Favorite
This trend has been a consistent one to ride, as the Brooklyn Nets, even with Kyrie Irving back, have really struggled as home favorites this season.
Since Irving was allowed to play in home games, the Nets have failed to cover as 9.5-point favorites against the Charlotte Hornets and 14-point favorites against the Detroit Pistons.
Now, they’ll host the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday as 1.5-point favorites at Barclays Center. I’m not sure how I’m going to play this game just yet, but I could see a scenario where Giannis Antetokounmpo and company pull off the upset.
Detroit Pistons are 14-4 Against the Spread Since the All-Star Break
Speaking of the Detroit Pistons, Cade Cunningham and company have been one of the best teams to bet on since coming out of the All-Star break.
In 18 games since the break, the Pistons are an impressive 14-4 against the spread and they have covered in every game as a 9.5-point or more underdog over that stretch.
Detroit is back in that position against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, coming in as 9.5-point dogs at WynnBET Sportsbook.
There's still college basketball to bet on as well, and the BetSided team has you covered with their top picks for the Final Four!
Chicago Bulls are 20-7 Against the Spread as Home Favorite
On the opposite end of the home favorite spectrum are the Chicago Bulls, as they are the best team against the spread in that spot this season.
Despite that, I’m fading the Bulls as 3.5-point favorites against the Los Angeles Clippers with Paul George back in the lineup.
Chicago has covered at a high rate in this spot, but the Bulls are also playing the league’s No. 29 offense over their last 10 games. This should make for an interesting matchup in Chicago.
