After four NBA Finals appearances in five years, the Golden State Warriors have spent the last two years outside of the playoffs. With Steph Curry missing a majority of 2020 with a broken hand and Klay Thompson missing the last two years with a torn ACL (2020) and a torn Achilles (2021), the return of the Splash Bros. brings a lot of optimism to the Bay Area.

WynnBET is showing a high level of confidence that the Warriors will return to form this season, giving them +1000 odds to win the NBA championship. While I expect Golden State to be good, having them the third-best odds to win the title is surprising to me.

I understand that the Warriors have a great situation going into the season. Curry is coming off a near-MVP season, Draymond Green was All-NBA First Team Defense, and they have two picks in Thursday’s draft. However, a lot of breaks have to go their way.

The biggest question mark is Thompson’s health. A torn ACL and a torn Achilles are two of the most serious injuries in sports and I think it's unreasonable to expect him to come back and play as if he hasn’t missed a beat.

The Warriors missed the playoffs last season after losing in the play-in tournament and have serious depth issues. Depending on what the Warriors do with their lottery picks, they could still have problems when Curry comes out of the game.

Golden State is supposed to have James Weisman for the majority of the year, which will be a boost for its front line.

I’m not going to sit here and say that I don’t see a way the Warriors can be contenders. What I will say is that they need a lot of things to break their way, and only then will I think that they are worthy of +1000 odds.
