NBA Power Rankings Based on NBA Championship Odds After Week 8
The NBA season just kicked off last month, so many of the championship odds aren't going to change. Yet, that doesn't mean there isn't a hierarchy of teams in the league.
The Association is constantly changing, and keeping up with who looks best can be difficult. Every week, I'll be providing my NBA Power Rankings for each team in relation to their NBA title odds.
Here's how things stand after the first few weeks of action. All odds listed are via WynnBET.
1. Phoenix Suns (+800, LW: No. 2)
Phoenix finally overtakes the Warriors as they keep pace and showing the full depth of their team.
2. Golden State Warriors (+400, LW: No. 1)
The Warriors haven't looked great in the last week. It's mostly because Curry is chasing the record, but the loss to the Sixers wasn't great.
3. Milwaukee Bucks (+700, LW: No. 3)
Milwaukee has taken some hits this week, but they are still one of the biggest teams to fear.
4. Utah Jazz (+1000, LW: No. 6)
Utah is starting to diversify the ways they can attack you, which should be scary for the rest of the league.
5. Brooklyn Nets (+325, LW: No. 5)
Brooklyn has a lot of players in the COVID protocol and Durant is having to play entirely too many minutes. The Nets should be concerned, but they are still atop the Eastern Conference.
6. Miami Heat (+1400, LW: No. 15)
I won't lie. I overreacted when I dropped the Heat down. "Heat Culture" is great and I shouldn't doubt it moving forward.
7. Philadelphia 76ers (+2000, LW: No. 8)
The win over the Warriors was a big win for the Sixers, who always feel like they are playing with a hand behind their back. As this team gels even more, watch for them to move up.
8. Chicago Bulls (+2500, LW: No. 4)
The Bulls had to have their games canceled due to nearly the entire team being in the COVID protocol. They get a pass for this week.
9. Cleveland Cavaliers (+10000, LW: No. 17)
Cleveland is legit and the development of Evan Mobley couldn't be going better. The Cavs are the No. 4 seed in the East and they need to be taken seriously.
10. Memphis Grizzlies (+7500, LW: No. 13)
How Memphis is staying afloat without Ja Morant is remarkable. The Grizzlies' depth is fantastic and they should be competitive for the rest of the season.
11. Charlotte Hornets (+20000, LW: No. 11)
Charlotte is close to having everyone back. Once they have the whole team back, the Hornets will be ready to make a run up the conference.
12. Los Angeles Clippers (+2000, LW: No. 10)
The Clippers are back on track and have won four straight. They are hovering around the fourth seed and are a couple win away from overtaking the Grizzlies.
13. Los Angeles Lakers (+1200, LW: No. 14)
The Lakers are the definition of average. Despite the resurgence from LeBron, Los Angeles can't string wins together.
14. Denver Nuggets (+2000, LW: No. 18)
Denver has won two in a row and those were some of the most-needed wins of the year. The Nuggets are back to being competitive in the West, which they need to be when Jamal Murray comes back.
15. Dallas Mavericks (+4000, LW: No. 16)
Dallas is the middle ground of the league. They aren't great at anything and Luka Doncic is still trying to play his way back into shape.
16. Boston Celtics (+5000, LW: No. 7)
The Celtics are the Eastern Conference version of the Mavericks. They are sitting at .500, but need to pick up the pace to move up the standings.
17. Washington Wizards (+8000, LW: No. 9)
Washington has lost two games in a row and is slumping. The days of them being on top of the conference are long gone.
18. Toronto Raptors (+20000, LW: No. 19)
The Raptors need to start using their home court advantage to get a boost up the standings. Right now, they are 13-14, but have hope due to the level of play they've shown recently.
19. Atlanta Hawks (+4000, LW: No. 12)
Atlanta just can't seem to stay at the top of the conference. The Hawks are a game under .500 and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
20. Houston Rockets (+50000, LW: No. 25)
The Rockets finally lost a game, but they are showing they have a lot more to offer with this roster. All of this is also happening without Kevin Porter Jr. or Jalen Green.
21. Sacramento Kings (+20000, LW: No. 22)
Sacramento has lost three in a row, slowing down a little bit of the momentum it had last week.
22. San Antonio Spurs (+30000, LW: No. 24)
San Antonio has the potential to be a sneaky team later in the year. They are only 0.5 games back of the No. 10 seed and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
23. New Orleans Pelicans (+20000, LW: No. 27)
Brandon Ingram and the Pelicans are starting to figure a couple things out. They are .500 over the last 10 games and are looking respectable.
24. Minnesota Timberwolves (+20000, LW: No. 20)
The Timberwolves are firmly in the play-in conversation, but they've been slumping recently. The ups-and-downs will come with a young team like this.
25. New York Knicks (+7500, LW: No. 21)
The fun of having a good basketball team was nice for one season. The Knicks have a lot of problems, no identity and a hard time getting wins.
26. Indiana Pacers (+20000, LW: No. 26)
The Pacers get to stay where they are because nothing ever changes with Indiana. Until they make a major change, nothing will be different.
27. Portland Trail Blazers (+8000, LW: No. 23)
This team needs a new course of action. All the mediocrity over the years is piling up and finally setting this team up to crash and burn.
28. Oklahoma City Thunder (+50000, LW: No. 30)
The Thunder have fallen back to reality after having a decent stretch early in the season. They are close to officially being the worst team in the Western Conference.
29. Orlando Magic (+100000, LW: No. 28)
Orlando has five wins on the season. While Franz Wagner has come along well, the team hasn't been able to turn that into wins.
30. Detroit Pistons (+50000, LW: No. 29)
The Pistons haven't won a game in nearly a month. It's clear they are the worst team in the league and will stay here while Jerami Grant is out.
