NC A&T vs. Houston Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, December 13 (A Classic Trap Spot for The Cougars)

Houston was the No. 1 team in the country, but a loss to Alabama dropped them to 9-1 and to No. 5 in the nation. That’s still a good spot for the Cougars and they’ll look to have a big bounce back against NC A&T tonight. The Cougars are massive favorites tonight against the Aggies, but will this defensive minded team be able to truly blow out an inferior opponent tonight?

Here are the odds for this one, and I’ll tell you how I’m betting this game.

Houston is the best defensive team in the country. They’re only allowing 49.7 points a game and their opponents are shooting 31.9%. Then Alabama showed up and dropped 71 points while shooting 40.7% from the field. I don’t think that is a reason for concern. Alabama was just a big step up in competition from the early part of their season, and they aren’t going to hold the best teams in the country to under 50 points. However, they can absolutely hold NC A&T to that without a problem. 

Marcus Sasser will play much better than he did against Bama when he had just nine points. He needs to be their leading scorer for them to beat good teams, but he can also do it against lesser competition.  He's averaging 16 a game and he'll likely get whatever he wants on that end tonight.

This will be an interesting one for Houston because they’re a very slow paced offense and that means it’s hard for them to win games by 30+ points. Not to mention that they’ll be looking ahead to a game on Saturday against No. 2 Virginia. That will be the Cougars chance to potentially jump back to No. 1 and has to be their main focus this week. Based on their methodical pace and upcoming game, I think Houston will have a tough time covering.
