The Nebraska Cornhuskers are hitting the road tonight to head to the Welsh-Ryan Arena to take on the Northwestern Wildcats in Big Ten action.

Nebraska enters this matchup on the heels of a brutal 90-74 loss to Maryland after a disastrous defensive showing. Northwestern, meanwhile, took an L to the Minnesota Golden Gophers 77-60 after struggling to find success on offense.

The Wildcats failed to play effective defense too and allowed the Golden Gophers to shoot nearly 59 percent from the field. Neither team has much left to play for at this point other than beating a conference rival in the closing weeks of the season.

Here are the odds for this Big Ten matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Nebraska vs. Northwestern Prediction and Pick

While the records for these two teams are somewhat similar, the odds make it clear that the Cornhuskers are a far inferior team. While they would love to snag a few wins as the season winds down before the Big Ten tournament, it doesn’t really matter where they are seeded. They will merely be a stepping stone to the next round for whoever is lucky enough to play them.

These two offenses actually match up quite well which suggests that maybe a play on Nebraska +11.5 might be the way to go. However, it is on the defensive side of the ball that things fall apart for the Cornhuskers. They rank 347th in scoring defense and 356th in opponent total rebounds per game.

Nebraska is also one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country at 310th. This means that when they do inevitably go down on the scoreboard, they don’t have the firepower to make that kind of a move to get back in the game.

While the Wildcats won’t be winning any trophies any time soon, they should have little trouble with a weak Cornhuskers roster. The Northwestern offense ranks 100th in scoring and 111th in rebounds per game. So long as the Wildcats' offense doesn’t sputter out, they should cover this game with relative ease.

Pick: Northwestern -11.5 (-110)
