Nelly Korda Gives USA Best Chance of Olympic Gold in Golf
The men’s Olympic Golf tournament is set to begin on July 29th, and the women’s Olympic golf event is set to tee off on August 4th.
The first time that women’s golf was in the Olympics was in 1900 when team USA swept all three medals. It returned, along with the men’s event, in 2016 but the Americans were left off the podium.
Inbee Park of South Korea won the gold medal, Lydia Ko of New Zealand won silver, and Shanshan Feng of China won bronze.
Team USA will hope to capture it’s first women’s olympic medal in golf since 1900 when they tee-off at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Saitama, Japan. Oddsmakers at WynnBET believe they have a decent chance to do just that, as American Nelly Korda is set as the betting favorite to win golf at +700.
Odds to Win the Women’s Olympic Golf Gold Medal
Korda is set as the betting favorite, but three South Koreans are close behind including the 2016 gold medalist, Inbee Park.

Nelly Korda Has Chance to Prove She’s Deserving of Being No. 1 Golfer in the World
The United States of America dominates the men’s golf world, but the same can’t be said for the women’s game. It’s South Korea that takes that crown for the ladies, especially in recent history. In fact, when Nelly Korda became the No. 1 ranked women’s golfer in the world after winning the Women’s PGA Championship in June, it was the first time an American female golfer was ranked No. 1 in the world since Stacy Lewis held that title for 21 weeks in 2014.
Korda, much like Jon Rahm in the men’s game, is deservedly the betting favorite as the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world heading into the 2020 Olympic Games, but she has several South Koreans who will be looking to snag that spot from her with a gold medal win. Ko, Park and Kim are both the next three golfers on the odds list as well as the next three golfers in the world rankings ahead of the Aug. 4 tee-off.
Inbee Park has a chance to become the first golfer to win two gold medals in the sport, as long as Justin Rose doesn’t achieve that feat in the men’s tournament the week before.
Korda’s sister, Jessica, will also represent the USA at the Olympic games. WynnBET has given her +2200 odds to win the golf medal.
Brooke Henderson Can Give Canada its Second Olympic Medal in Golf
Former No. 1 women’s golfer in the world, Brooke Henderson, represents Canada’s best chance to win a medal in golf at the 2020 Olympic games. She’s tied for the seventh-shortest odds at WynnBET to win the gold medal.
Believe it or not, Canada actually has won a gold medal in golf. Back in 1904, George Lyons of Canada won the men’s gold medal. The eight-time Canadian amateur champion never turned professional, and he reigned as the men’s Olympic champion for 112 years until golf returned to the games in 2016.
Alena Sharp will also represent Canada in the women’s tournament, but WynnBET doesn’t give her much of a chance to win as her odds to capture the gold medal are set at +20000.
Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes will represent Canada in the men’s tournament the week before.
