Nets vs. Heat Predictions and Odds (Back Brooklyn with Durant and Kyrie on the Floor)
By Reed Wallach
The Miami Heat are in the midst of a freefall recently. The team has dropped three straight and sit only a half game up for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. This week, the team has been caught shouting on the bench with one another and blowing a double digit fourth quarter lead to the New York Knicks.
Now, the reeling Heat take on the Brooklyn Nets, who may be a likely play-in candidate, but an opponent none of the elite in the East want to see in the postseason with Kyrie Irving now able to play in Brooklyn and Kevin Durant playing at an MVP level.
In a potential first round preview, who has the edge? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
Nets vs. Heat Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- Nets: -4.5 (-110)
- Heat: +4.5 (-110)
Moneyline:
- Nets: -190
- Heat: +155
Total: 230 (Over -110/Under -110)
Nets vs. Heat Prediction and Pick
This line has moved swiftly towards Brooklyn and out of a range that I would like to play even though I think we see a motivated Nets team take out a potentially tired Heat club that played a taxing game on Friday night.
I'd much rather look towards the under. While the Nets have worlds of fire power with Durant and Irving, posting the best offensive rating in the league with both players on the floor, the Heat have a top five defensive rating and play at the second slowest pace.
For Miami to hang in this game it comes on the defensive end, the team is going to struggle getting into a shootout with Brooklyn's high octane offense. For what it's worth, the Heat are 14-6 to the under as underdog this season, signaling that when expected to lose they either focus on getting stops or simply struggle to hold up their end of the bargain to send the game over.
LEAN: UNDER 230
