The Brooklyn Nets have turned things around without Kyrie Irving, winning four of their last five games, including a blowout win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night.

Brooklyn and Kevin Durant will take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the second night of a back-to-back as road favorites.

The Nets are really getting some solid contributions out of Seth Curry, Edmond Sumner and others at the guard spot over this five-game stretch.

With LeBron James doubtful for this game with an abductor strain, can the Lakers snap a five-game skid and avoid falling to 2-11 on the season?

Nets vs. Lakers Prediction and Pick

The Lakers are impossible to bet on right now, playing some of the worst basketball in the NBA.

However, the Nets could be without Seth Curry (questionable) in the second night of the back-to-back.

Rather than trust Brooklyn for the whole game, I’m going to look to the first quarter where there is a major discrepancy between these two teams.

After starting the season as one of the worst first quarter teams in the NBA, the Nets are now eighth in the NBA in net rating in the first frame. Durant has been a big reason why, getting his teammates involved early, such as in his triple-double performance against the New York Knicks.

The Lakers? Well, they rank dead last in the NBA in net rating at -20.2.

This team lacks any outside shooting, and without James, I don’t see the Lakers getting out to a hot start in this matchup.
