UNLV is out to one of their best starts in recent memory and are quickly emerging as a dark horse Mountain West contender, can they keep it rolling as double digit home favorites?

The Runnin' Rebels won their Mountain West opener against Utah State and now host 2-2 New Mexico on Friday night in front of a national audience. Can Doug Brumfield and the resurgent Rebs stay hot at home?

Let's check out the latest odds:

New Mexico vs. UNLV Odds, Spread and Total

New Mexico vs. UNLV Betting Trends

  • UNLV has covered in all four games
  • New Mexico is 0-1 against the spread (ATS) on the road this season
  • New Mexico has gone UNDER in three of four games this season

New Mexico vs. UNLV Prediction and Pick

UNLV has burst out of the gates this season, boasting a top five offensive line in terms of line yards and also a top 50 mark in terms of yards per play. Brumfield has been great under center for Marcus Arroyo's team, posting a top 30 completion percentage.

However, Brumfield and the UNLV backfield has taken some terrible negative plays, ranking in the bottom 20 in sacks and tackles for loss. That can be an issue against New Mexico, who has a formidable defensive line, top 20 in those same two metrics on the defensive side of the ball.

Neither team plays fast, the Rebels are bottom half nationally while the Lobos are bottom five in seconds per play. If New Mexico is able to get UNLV behind schedule and play some ball control, this game can be even lower scoring than expected.

I do lean towards the UNLV offense doing enough to pull in front by two scores, but I can't trust a Lobos offense that is bottom 10 in metrics such as yards per play, points per drive, havoc rate allowed and success rate to stay close. The under is the safest look in this game.

LEAN: UNDER 44.5
