Newcastle United has one goal in mind moving forward in the Premier League season. Avoid relegation at all costs.

The Magpies are currently 19th in the EPL after eking out a win over Leeds United 1-0 on Jan. 22. It was just their second win of the season and now sit at 2-9-10 in EPL play. Everton, meanwhile, is having a slightly better go of things in the Premier League with a 5-4-11 overall mark that ranks them 16th overall. It would be an understatement to say they have not been playing their best but were able to dominate 4-1 in their last game against Brentford.

Newcastle vs. Everton Prediction and Pick

I find that these relegation rivalries are often better than games between teams fighting for a championship. Nothing breeds desperation like the threat of being relegated and both teams will be playing to avoid that embarrassment in any way they can. Both sides would benefit greatly from this six-point game with Newcastle holding a slight edge in the odds.

The reason for this edge, despite the two wins, is likely due to the new additions the team has made since their last game. Eddie Howe hit the panic button on the year and tapped into the deep pockets to bring in Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn, and Matt Targett. The trio could make their debut for this game and would put the Magpies in a great spot to get their season back on track. They are coming off a win that snapped a six-game win streak and now have fresh legs to continue a push up the ladder.

I am expecting a low-scoring game and would lean to the under 2.5 at -116, but the value here lies with Newcastle to win outright.

PICK: Newcastle United +150 to win
LEAN: UNDER 2.5 goals scored (-116)
