Since Peyton Manning retired, the Denver Broncos have been searching for an answer at quarterback.

This offseason, Denver is embarking on a rather underwhelming quarterback competition between former second-round pick Drew Lock and veteran Teddy Bridgewater.

While it’s still too early to decide on who will be the starter in 2021, WynnBET believes that lock has the upper hand. Lock is the only Denver quarterback listed on WynnBET’s odds for the league’s passing yards leader in 2021 at +15000.

Bridgewater didn’t even make the list.

It’s no surprise that Denver would rather Lock run away with the job, as it restructured Bridgewater’s deal when it traded for him to only keep him on the team through the 2021 season.

Lock, who flashed some potential at the end of the 2020 season, is still on his rookie deal, and he would give Denver a better chance to build a winning roster if he can prove to be a competent starting quarterback.

Even if Bridgewater wins the job this season, it will be hard for Denver to justify paying him in free agency after the Carolina Panthers were so quick to move on from him after signing him to a three-year deal last offseason.

While neither Lock or Bridgewater will likely push for the title of the league’s top passer, it’s worth noting that Bridgewater averaged more yards through the air per game last season (248.9) than Lock (225.6).

Lock struggled mightily with his accuracy in 2020, as he completed just 57.3 percent of his passes after he completed 64.1 percent in his rookie season in 2019.

The Broncos best chance of winning anything likely comes with a trade for either Deshaun Watson or Aaron Rodgers, but it appears neither is imminent at this time.

WynnBET has given Denver +155 odds to make the playoffs this season, but they are third in the standings to win the AFC West at just +600 odds. Still, the Broncos have intriguing Super Bowl odds, as they’re tied for the ninth-best odds at +2500.
