NFL Week 12 Survivor Pool Picks

Miami Dolphins

Do yourself a favor and fade the Houston Texans again this week.

The Miami Dolphins are fresh off a bye week and come into this game on a four-game winning streak. Mike McDaniel’s club has to take care of business here to stay atop the AFC East.

The Dolphins are one of the best offenses in the NFL this season, and they get to take on a Houston team that can’t move the ball right now, scoring 20 or fewer points in six straight games. If Miami slows down Dameon Pierce, there’s no way Houston steals this game. – Peter Dewey

I typically don't love backing the Miami Dolphins as big favorites, as I have concerns about their defense that is 24th in EPA/Play, but when they simply need to beat the Houston Texans, I'll take my shot.

The Texans offense is completely anemic at this point in the season under Davis Mills that we are now discussing if the team should go to Kyle Allen instead. There is no difference between the two and the team will not be able to keep up with the high powered Dolphins offense that is fresh off a bye. – Reed Wallach

The Dolphins are 12.5 to 13-point home favorites coming off a bye against the Houston Texans this weekend, with Miami as locked in offensively as any team in the NFL.

The Dolphins rank fourth in points/play and second in yards/play against a Texans defense that’s second-to-last and fifth-worst in the league in both categories. They also allow the sixth-most yards/pass in the league, which does not bode well vs. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Miami is the top team in the NFL in yards/pass.

While teams can score on Miami’s defense, the Texans haven’t scored on anyone this year. Since their defense can’t contain Tua Tagovailoa and the ’Fins, they can’t keep up offensively if it turns into a track meet. – Ben Heisler

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have quietly become one of the best teams in the NFL.

They’ve won four games in a row, have a defense that is playing much better and are set to face a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team.

Jacksonville has been a great team at stopping the run, but that will go out the window against Lamar Jackson. The Jaguars have lost six of their last seven games, and I don’t trust them to stop one of the best talents in the league. – Donnavan Smoot

New York Jets

If you're still one of the lucky few left alive in your Survivor Pool, like me, allow me to suggest a bold move.

Almost every single person left in your pool is going to take the Miami Dolphins. They're massive favorites against the Houston Texans and many people likely haven't taken Miami yet this year. But, don't follow the crowd. Fortune favors the bold. If you go with another option, and the Texans somehow beat the Dolphins, you can completely wipe out a majority of the final participants remaining in one swoop.

The Jets moved from 3.5-point favorites to 4.5-point favorites, meaning the "sharps" and professional bettors like them in this spot. Forget the QB controversy, this is a game between one of the best defenses in the NFL in the Jets and one of the worst in the Chicago Bears. Take New York this week and look like a genius. – Iain MacMillan
