Injuries are a normal part of sports, but, the NFL right now is having an injury outbreak on a much bigger level. It's not so much how many players are getting hurt, but more so the quality of players that are going down.

We have already seen a number of top-tier talent get knocked out midway through the season with injuries, including Derrick Henry in Tennessee, Jameis Winston and Michael Thomas in New Orleans, Marcus Peters with Baltimore, and Carl Lawson in New York. However, for whatever reason, the injury bug bit hard in Week 12 and saw more than a dozen starting players injured. Of the injuries in Week 12, these are some of the more important ones to take note of heading in Week 13.

Notable NFL Week 13 Injuries

Christian McCaffrey - Panthers RB

After missing several weeks due to a hamstring issue, the off-injured running back’s season is over. McCaffrey suffered an ankle injury against the Miami Dolphins and, despite trying to return to the game, was eventually ruled out. X-rays came back negative but an MRI showed enough damage had been done to shut McCaffrey down for the year.

The Panthers have a bye week to sort this mess out with a game against the Falcons in Week 14.

Dalvin Cook - Vikings RB

The Vikings training staff had to bring out the car to get Dalvin Cook off the field late in the third quarter of their Week 12 game against the 49ers. An odd requirement for a shoulder injury but he appeared to be in a lot of pain.

Cook escaped without a season-ending injury but did tear his labrum while dislocating his shoulder. He will miss a few weeks and the Vikings hope to get him back for a playoff run. Luckily, the Vikings have a cupcake matchup against the Lions this week and are currently 7.0 road favorites at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Darren Waller - Raiders TE

Waller was forced out of the Raiders’ Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Cowboys with a knee injury. After the game, it was reported he avoided any serious issues and just strained an IT band in his knee. Consider Waller day-to-day heading into Week 13 against Washington as 2.5-point home favorites.

D'Andre Swift - Lions RB

As if the Lions didn’t already have enough problems, Swift suffered an AC sprain on Thursday and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. It was a tough loss for Detroit as Swift was the lone bright spot on offense. The Lions will have a tough game at home against the Vikings as 7-point underdogs.

Deebo Samuel - 49ers WR

Samuel suffered a groin injury in Week 12 and is expected to miss 1-2 weeks. This is a tough pill for the 49ers to swallow as the whole offense essentially revolved around Samuel. He has already been ruled out for Week 13 against the Seahawks where the Niners are 3-point road favorites.

Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders - Eagles QB / RB

The Eagles' two most important offensive weapons, Hurts and Sanders, both suffered injuries in Week 12 that could impact their Week 13 status. As of now, Hurts appears to be on track to play against the Jets despite a dodgy ankle. He was able to finish last week’s game with the same injury.

Sanders is a different story. He was forced from the Giants game in the second half with a foot injury.

The Eagles are currently -6.5-point road favorites over the Jets.
