NFL Week 4 Survivor Pool Picks: Buy Low on Chargers, Lions Predicted to Bounce Back This Week
The three lone survivors in BetSided’s 2022 NFL Survivor Pool are all still alive, although they did it in different fashion in Week 3.
Iain MacMillan’s risk paid off by taking the Atlanta Falcons, as they came through with their first win of the season against the Seattle Seahawks.
Meanwhile Reed Wallach and Ben Heisler stayed alive with the Cincinnati Bengals picking up their first win of the season against the New York Jets.
So, can they keep it going in Week 4? Let’s recap their picks and then jump into the best survivor selections for this week’s slate:
NFL Week 3 Survivor Pool Pick Results
- Iain MacMillan: Atlanta Falcons (W)
- Ben Heisler: Cincinnati Bengals (W)

NFL Week 4 Survivor Pool Picks
Los Angeles Chargers
I know it looks like the sky is falling for the Los Angeles Chargers, it feels like every single key contributor is out and Justin Herbert looked hampered by a rib injury, but I'm going to take a stab on L.A. here.
The Houston Texans couldn't get past the Chicago Bears on the road and while the team beat the Chargers last season, the Texans seem worse off this season as their defense has been arguably the worst in football, allowing 23 to Chicago.
Los Angeles will hopefully get Keenan Allen back, and while the injuries to Joey Bosa and Rashawn Slater are going to hamper the long term upside of the Chargers, I don't think they will prevent them from beating the 0-2-1 Texans. – Reed Wallach
Detroit Lions
Picking the Detroit Lions in Survivor… “I’ll take things I never thought I’d say in the last 20 years for $800, Alex?”
The reality is, this is the perfect time to back the Lions after letting a road win slip through their fingers in Minneapolis. They’ll be focused, locked in, and ready to take on a traveling Seattle Seahawks team playing an early start game on the road.
We also need to talk about their newfound offense under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, as the Lions set an NFL record vs. Minnesota for a touchdown scored in their first 11 quarters of the season.
The Lions also continue to be one of the best teams at covering the spread; starting 3-0 ATS for the first time in 30 years. Despite their 3-13-1 record last year, they were 11-6 ATS, so the effort is always there even when the talent isn’t.
While everyone zigs to the Green Bay Packers at home vs. the Mac Jones-less New England Patriots, let’s zag to another side, gain some leverage in our pools, and hope for something wild to happen. — Ben Heisler
Indianapolis Colts
Despite getting the win last week over the Las Vegas Raiders, I still firmly believe the Tennessee Titans are one of the worst teams in the NFL.
Now, they have to face the best run defense in the NFL. The Indianapolis Colts allow just 2.6 yards per carry, so expect Tennessee to struggle to get Derrick Henry going. Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis offense will get enough done to earn them their second-straight win. -- Iain MacMillan
