The Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals are two of the best teams in the NFL through eight weeks. Both teams lead their division and have lost just one game each. However, games are not the only things teams’ can lose during the course of the season, and both the Cowboys and Cardinals are in danger of losing their quarterbacks. At least briefly.

Both Dak Prescott and Kyler Murray are dealing with injuries and remain questionable to suit for Week 9. Prescott already missed Week 8, but Murray hasn’t yet missed any time dealing with his issue. Let’s take a look at each player and predict if they stand to miss any time moving forward.

Dak Prescott Injury Update

Prescott sat Week 8 against the Vikings due to a calf injury he sustained in the Cowboy’s overtime win over the Patriots in Week 7. The Cowboys were lucky that Cooper Rush came in last week and led the Cowboys to a win over the Vikings. This week, the Cowboys are hosting the Broncos and all signs point to Prescott being available.

Prescott was listed as a limited participant for Thursday’s practice but was upgraded earlier today. It was the first time he was a full participant in three weeks and is a very good sign that he will be ready to roll on Sunday. Additionally, Dak said in a statement today to reporters that it was “safe to say,” he would be playing against the Broncos. His teammates are also expecting him back with Trevon Diggs saying his return “brings a lot of confidence,” to the team.

As he said himself, it’s safe to say that Prescott will be starting in Week 9.

Kyler Murray Injury Update

Murray’s injury was more recent and his status for this weekend is much more of an unknown. Unlike Prescott, Murray was unable to practice today and has yet to take the field since Thursday Night Football against the Packers. It would appear his early-week re-evaluation didn’t go so well. It is possible the Cardinals are being over cautious with their superstar QB. Tomorrow will be the real test for Murray and whether or not he will be able to practice.

Medial ankle sprains are often tricky to work back from, but it appears Murray is ahead of schedule. The original timetable for his return was 1-3 weeks, but Murray looks a lot closer than that to a return. The latest news on Murray is that he said having 4-5 days off from practice has helped his ankle a lot. It sounds like he expects to play this week but I have my suspicions. I don’t see a reason why the Cardinals would risk a further injury to their star and just let Colt McCoy or Chris Streveler take the lead for a week.
