We picked things up from where we left off with my NHL picks last week, going 2-1 for a small profit.

Let's have another profitable night on the ice! Hopefully the spooky times will stick to trick-or-treating, and spare us from an scary results tonight.

You can follow all of my NHL bets on Betstamp here, as well as right here on BetSided in each "Best Bets" article.

Let's dive into today's action.

NHL Best Bets Record-to-Date:

  • 24-22 (+0.88 units)

NHL Best Bets for Today (Monday, October 31)

  • Hurricanes -185 vs. Capitals
  • Red Wings +120 vs. Sabres
  • Kings +120 vs. Blues

Hurricanes -185 vs. Capitals

The Carolina Hurricanes have established themselves as arguably the best team in the NHL through the first few weeks. Heading into tonight's game against the Capitals, they rank first in 5-on-5 CORSI%, third in expected goals for per 60 minutes, and second in expected goals against per 60 minutes.

The Capitals hold the same record at 5-4, but they rank in the bottom half of the league in the aforementioned category. Their record has been largely due to their high shooting percentage, but I expect some regression with their shooting in the coming weeks.

Red Wings +120 vs. Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have allowed only 2.75 goals per 60 minutes this season, but their expected goals against is 3.32. They've received some unbelievable goaltending from Eric Comrie and Craig Anderson, but I don't expect that to continue.

The Red Wings, in theory, have played much better defensively, with an expected goals against of 3.00.

Let's be honest, these are two bad teams playing against each other. Why not take a shot on the underdog? Buffalo isn't as good as their early season results have shown.

Kings +120 vs. Blues

The St. Louis Blues are another team I expect to regress. They rank 27th in 5-on-5 CORSI%, but more importantly, they're lacking in the one area they excelled in throughout last season; shooting percentage.

The Blues were by far the best shooting team in the NHL last season, but now they rank 24th in shooting percentage, scoring on 8.87 percent of shots. Without their sharpshooting, the other areas they lack in, are coming to light.

The Kings have been outperforming the Blues in basically every statistic, so I'll a shot on them at +120.
