Not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I've been red hot in the NHL as of late. I'm 14-4 (+8.31 units) since Monday, so let's keep the momentum going today.

Sure, there's football to bet on today, but why not place a few NHL wagers as well? There's five total games today, so let's dive into my best bets for the Sunday slate.

You can find the best available moneyline odds, puck lines and over/unders in our daily "Best NHL Odds Today" guide HERE!

NHL Best Bets Record-to-Date

NHL Best Bets Today (Sunday, December 4)

  • Wild/Stars OVER 6 (-115)
  • Blue Jackets +100 vs. Red Wings
  • Blackhawks/Islanders OVER 5.5 (-120)

Wild/Stars OVER 6 (-115)

The Stars have begun to play a wide open style of hockey over recent weeks. Over each team's last 10 games, the Stars lead the NHL in high-danger scoring chances, averaging 15.17 per game. They're also allowing the second most high-danger scoring chances over that stretch at 14.67.

Let's take advantage of those recent numbers and hope that it will result in a ton of goals in this Central Division showdown.

Blue Jackets +100 vs. Red Wings

Both of these teams deserve to be in the bottom of the NHL standings. Despite being 11-6-5, don't be fooled into thinking that the Red Wings are a good hockey team. The Blue Jackets have thrived in their shooting over their last 10 games, ranking fourth in the NHL by finding the back of the net in 12.06% of their shots.

That should thrive against the Red Wings, who have struggled in the goaltender department lately, ranking 30th in save percentage, stopping only 87.08% shots on net over their last 10 games.

I'll take a shot on Columbus as home underdogs.

Blackhawks/Islanders OVER 5.5 (-120)

If it wasn't for Ilya Sorokin sporting a .932 save percentage this season, the Islanders would be one of the best OVER bets in the NHL. They allow the fourth most high-danger scoring chances per game at 13.86, while also ranking 29th in expected goals at 3.53.

Sorokin may be good enough to stay away from betting on the OVER when it's set at six, but with the total set at 5.5, I can't resist taking the OVER tonight when they host the Blackhawks.
