NHL Odds: Atlantic Division is a Four Team Race
It won’t be long until the 2021-2022 NHL season will begin!
We’ve already seen a jam-packed offseason that has held an expansion draft, a rookie draft, and an intense free agency period.
Now that the dust has settled and teams have the majority of their rosters locked in place for the upcoming season, WynnBET has released odds to win each of the four divisions.
Teams will be returning to their normal divisions that were in place prior to the shortened 2020-2021 season, with the only difference being the Arizona Coyotes switching from the Pacific Division to the Central Division, to make room in the Pacific for the new expansion team, the Seattle Kraken.
The Atlantic Division, which features the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning, will prove to once again be one of the most exciting divisions in hockey.
Odds to win the 2021-2022 Atlantic Division
Odds listed below are via WynnBET.
- Tampa Bay Lightning +130
- Toronto Maple Leafs +225
- Boston Bruins +400
- Florida Panthers +550
- Montreal Canadiens +2500
- Detroit Red Wings +10000
- Ottawa Senators +10000
- Buffalo Sabres +15000
Can the Lightning win their third consecutive Stanley Cup?
The Atlantic Division is clearly a four team race between the Lightning, Maple Leafs, Bruins, and Panthers. Tampa Bay is set as the betting favorite to come out on top, which should come as a surprise to no one.
But can they make it three straight Stanley Cup victories? Likely not.
They did as best they could this offseason given the cap situation they found themselves in, but they still lost Tyler Johnson and Yanni Gourde. They’re certainly still good enough to be contenders this season, but they won’t have the stacked roster they had this past postseason.
It’s hard enough to win the Stanley Cup two years in a row, let alone three, and the odds reflect that fact. WynnBET has them behind the Colorado Avalanche to win it all this season, and only slightly ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Maple Leafs Fans Should Prepare for More Heartbreak
Nobody loves but hates the Maple Leafs more than I do, but I still can’t see this team making a deep playoff run. They’ll be returning to action with the majority of their roster intact from last season, and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t have a strong regular season.
They were winners of the North Division last year before falling to the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs, and they could be a good value bet at +225 to win the Atlantic this year. They are as good of a regular season team that you’ll find, but I’d pass on their Stanley Cup odds at +1100.
