USC needed its bye week after a really tough loss at Utah, 43-42, two weeks ago. Lincoln Riley’s team is still 6-1 and in the top 10, so things could be much worse. The Trojans could be Arizona, who is 3-4 and went into its bye last week after two straight Pac 12 losses. Two weeks ago Washington put up 49 on the Wildcats and Arizona lost 49-39.

It could be a high scoring affair in the Pac 12, but first let’s check out what Vegas thinks.

USC vs. Arizona Odds, Spread and Total

Arizona and USC Betting Trends

  • USC is 5-2 ATS
  • Arizona is 4-3 ATS
  • The over is 5-2 in Arizona games
  • Over is 7-1 in USC’s last 8 vs. a team with a losing record
  • Over is 4-0-1 in Arizona’s last 5 following a straight up loss

USC vs. Arizona Prediction and Pick

Lincoln Riley is already the best play-caller and play-designer in college and maybe all of football. He is a genius when it comes to getting his playmakers the ball in space. Now, give him an extra week to do that. That will be terrifying for Arizona this week.

USC is 12th in the country in scoring and that is after just seven games of Caleb Williams, Jordan Addison, and Travis Dye as Trojans. With more time for these guys to gel and more time for Riley to institute his system and evolve it, this offense is only going to get better.

Arizona is 55th in scoring offense, but 25th in total yards per game, which to me is more predictive than points are. In Arizona’s last game, Jayden de Laura completed 25 of 34 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns against Washington. He likely won’t have that kind of output against USC, but I fully expect him to move the ball with relative ease.

The most important thing is that Arizona’s defense is 124th in the country and allow 36.3 points per game. In total defense, they are 118th. USC will score early and score often, but instead of taking them against the spread, I’ll ask Arizona to chip in as well and take the over.

Pick: Over 76.5 (-107)
