Clemson certainly looks like it has it figured out again after a 31-3 win over Boston College propelled the team back into the Top 4. Now, the Tigers and Dabo Swinney will ride that momentum into Tallahassee for a highly anticipated ACC showdown with Florida State.

NC State may be Clemson’s biggest threat in the conference, but the Seminoles nearly took them out last week and could find a way to knock off the Tigers on Saturday night.

Clemson vs. Florida State Prediction and Pick

Dabo Swinney’s team comes into Week 7 at 6-0 to face Mike Norvell’s 4-2 Florida State squad that nearly found a way to beat NC State last week. All 17 of the Seminoles points came in the second quarter, and they couldn't even manage a field goal in the second half.

They fell 19-17 in a game where Jordan Travis threw two interceptions on the road. Losing the turnover battle on the road is going to make it tough to survive.

I still trust that Travis is one of the better quarterbacks in the ACC and might even be ahead of DJ Uiagalelei. However, I think it will be the running game that will be the difference this week.

Florida State has the 25th ranked rushing offense in the country, 20 spots ahead of their passing attack in yards per game. Last week the Seminoles ran the ball for 206 yards on NC State and it was the reason they were in that game. This week they have to face Clemson’s second ranked rush defense that only allowed 62.2 yards on the ground.

Clemson’s rush offense is also its strength, led by Will Shipley and last week. Uiagalelei also used his legs much more than usual and found a lot of success. Florida State’s passing defense is 14th in the country, it is their strength, but they give up 155.3 yards rushing on average, good for 89th best.

This is a game of matchups. Clemson runs the ball well and Florida State can’t stop the run. Florida State runs the ball well and Clemson does stop the run. Clemson’s pass defense is weak, so for Florida State to win, Travis will have to be outstandings and likely throw for 300-plus yards.

That’s not out of the realm of possibility, but I don’t believe he can handle that type of burden consistently and will end up turning the ball over if he is asked to throw it 40 times.

Pick: Clemson -3.5 (-107)
