North Carolina A&T vs. Longwood Prediction and Odds (Bet Longwood to Cover)
By Reed Wallach
North Carolina A&T won in overtime in the first round of the Big South Conference Tournament against Radford and now have their hands full with the No. 1 seed Longwood on deck.
Longwood won the Big South regular season, but they did drop one game, and that was to North Carolina A&T back on February 12th on the road, 70-62.
However, there is no doubt that the Lancers are set up for success in the first session of the quarterfinals given their banner season. But, will they be able to cover a considerable spread? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:
North Carolina A&T vs. Longwood Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
- North Carolina A&T: +8 (-110)
- Longwood: -8 (-110)
Moneyline:
- North Carolina A&T: +280
- Longwood: -370
Total: 136.5
North Carolina A&T vs. Longwood Prediction and Pick
I don't envision we see any lag with the Aggies after going to overtime with Radford in the first round given that they had a day off in between games. However, what's concerning is that they blew a double digit second half lead to a far inferior team and now face the best offense in the Big South.
The Lancers are the best 3-point shooting team in league play and do the little things well too, ranking second in both turnover rate and offensive rebounding rate while placing third in free throw rate. The Aggies struggled on offense all season, but do generate second chances better than any team in the conference. However, Longwood is third in defensive rebounding rate.
Ultimately, I see North Carolina A&T struggling to keep pace with Longwood. The game that the Aggies won they outrebounded their opponent by 10 and were fantastic on the interior, 53% to Longwood's 35%. I see that evening out on a neutral court and the Lancers ability to wash this away from the free throw line (74.9% as a team) will get them the cover.
LEAN: Longwood -8
