The Portland Pilots are taking on the whole state of North Dakota, and they’re winning. The Pilots defeated the University of North Dakota on Saturday, 90-69, and now they’ll face the 1-8 North Dakota State Bison at home. The Pilots are 7-4, and they’ve been very busy in their non-conference schedule and look like they’ll be a competitive team in the WCC this year.

Portland is a big home favorite in this one and NDSU hasn’t covered in six straight games, so let’s take a look at the odds and see if the Bison can buck that trend.

NDSU vs. Portland Odds, Spread and Total

NDSU vs. Portland Prediction and Pick

North Dakota State is just bad, they’re 1-8 they haven’t covered in their last six and are 0-4 against the spread on the road. Meanwhile Portland has covered their last four and covered all four of their games against teams with a losing record. They’ve hung with some good teams this year like a one point loss to Michigan State, but their season so far has been defined by taking care of business against the bad teams.

Shantay Legans is becoming the next hot head coaching name around college basketball circles and if he turns a strong start into a great season, then he’ll be a top candidate for whatever Power 5 jobs open up. Portland shoots nearly 40% from three as a team, they score 82.4 points a game and they hit 78% of their free-throws, that’s 18th best in the country. Their defense leaves something to be desired, but NDSU will not be the team to expose it.

The Pilots are led by Tyler Robertson, who averaged 16.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.6 rebounds, he’s an all-around offensive star for this team and the Bison won’t have any answer for the 6-foot-6 Junior Guard from Australia.

Pick: Portland -15 (-110)
