Northern Illinois vs. Kent State Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 10
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Northern Illinois Huskies (6-2) are coming off a BYE week, but won a 39-38 shootout over the Central Michigan Chippewas on Oct. 23, winning with a 26-yard field goal in the final minute.
After losing back-to-back games in mid-September to Wyoming and then-No. 25 Michigan, Northern Illinois have won five consecutive games. Each of the last four wins have been by eight or fewer points.
The Kent State Golden Flashes (4-4) are coming off a bye as well, winning in their last contest in Week 8, 34-27 over the Ohio Bobcats. Three of Kent State’s four losses came from competition outside the MAC Conference, losing to then-No. 6 Texas A&M on Sept. 4, then-No. 5 Iowa on Sept. 18, and Maryland on Sept. 25.

Northern Illinois vs. Kent State Prediction and Pick
This game is going to be an entertaining track meet.
Northern Illinois ranks 10th in rushing yards, averaging 232.8 rushing yards per game, and Kent State is 17th in rushing, averaging 220.1 rushing yards per game. Both the Huskies and Golden Flashes defenses are outside the top-100 rushing defenses. Yikes!
Kent State has been much better at passing, as Golden Flashes signal caller Dustin Crum may be the best quarterback in the MAC Conference. Crum has thrown nine touchdown passes to just two interceptions and has also picked up six touchdowns on the ground in eight games.
Crum is the edge in this matchup, and I like Kent State to get the win at home over Northern Illinois.
I’m taking Kent State on the moneyline at -180.
