The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost their first game of the season last week to the playoff-hopeful Cincinnati Bearcats. Head coach Bryan Kelly benched quarterback Jack Coan in the third quarter in the loss, bringing in Drew Pyne. Neither quarterback was impressive against the Bearcats defense.
The Virginia Tech Hokies are coming off a bye week, last time out defeating the FCS Richmond Spiders, 21-10 in Week 4. Virginia Tech has not been spectacular in any one thing this season, but have managed to not be bad in too many things either. The Hokies defense is currently allowing just 15.3 points per game.
