There’s a widespread belief that Jonathan Taylor is going to have a great season. Although the Indianapolis Colts have some injury concerns about Carson Wentz and Quentin Nelson, which would lower his value, Taylor is still projected to be one of the best backs in the league.

Taylor was able to keep pace with some of the top veteran backs last year, and he is expected to be the best back of the new class of running backs. Indianapolis just saw one of their own, Edgerrin James, be inducted into the Hall of Fame -- something that Taylor definitely saw.

WynnBET is offering a “Next Step” prop, which is centered around the combined rushing and receiving yards for second year running backs. Taylor is the favorite to lead the group of backs with +150 odds. Behind Taylor is J.K. Dobbins (+300) -- who is now out for the year with an ACL injury -- Antonio Gibson (+450), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (+500), D’Andre Swift (+1000) and finally Zack Moss (+10000).

Taylor finished sixth in the league in scrimmage yards in 2020 with 1,468 yards. I think Taylor is going to run away with this prop. Although he’s not the best running back in the passing game on the list, he more than makes up for it in the way he runs the ball. Taylor started 13 games last season, missing out on quality time. A full 17-game schedule should allow Taylor to inch closer to the 2,000-yard mark in total yards.

If there was going to be a sleeper pick, it would be Gibson. Ron Rivera has already expressed that he wants to use Gibson in a “Christian McCaffrey type role.” If he stays true to his plan, Gibson should see a lot of work this year and sneak into Taylor’s range of production.
