The NFL season technically starts tomorrow, with the Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars squaring off in the Hall of Fame game, but the regular season won’t start for another month. The reigning champion Los Angeles Rams will host the Buffalo Bills, who are the favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Buffalo is at the top of nearly every odds board when it comes to futures. One thing the Bills are the favorites for – by a fair margin – is to lead the league in scoring. DraftKings currently has the Bills at +550 to be the highest scoring team in 2022. The next closest team in the Tampa Bay Bucs at +800.

The Bills have been in the top three for the past two seasons, but this is a great season to back the Bills to set the league on fire.

One way to project what team is going to be the highest scoring team is to figure out who is going to win MVP. That seems easy enough.

Three of the last five teams to lead the league in scoring had the MVP on their team. Coming into 2022, Josh Allen is listed as the favorite to win league MVP for the first time. He’s one of the best passers in the game and his running ability puts him in the highest tier possible.

Betting Allen to win MVP and the Bills to lead the league in scoring could be an interesting way to double up on futures bets.

The biggest threats to the Bills, according to the odds, are the Bucs and the Chargers. However, the Buccaneers will be without Ryan Jensen for a long time after suffering a knee injury – throwing a damper on Brady’s “comeback” tour.

As for the Chargers, they are healthy and led by rising star Justin Herbert – who can actually apply pressure on Buffalo.

It’s going to be a long season, but if the Bills’ offense looks similar to how it has in the last two seasons, they are the ones to beat.
