Fans of the Seattle Seahawks will do a double take when they see what Vegas has as their projected win total for the 2021 NFL season.

After going 12-4 in 2020, including winning the NFC West crown, WynnBET has the Seahawks projected win total for this season set at 9.5. If it’s any consolation, the over (-140) is favored to the under at +115 odds.

This number is especially surprising given that the NFL is moving to an extended 17-game season this year, which means a 10-win season would leave the Seahawks at 10-7, which may not be good enough for a postseason berth.

Odds have also been released for each team to make the playoffs this year, and the Seahawks chances are a true coin flip as WynnBET has it set at -115 on either side of the prop bet.

Why does Vegas have no faith in the Seahawks this season?

A big part of it is due to the fact Seattle competes in what is arguably the best division in all of football. Between the Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals and a healthy San Francisco 49ers team, the Seahawks have their hands full if they want to win the division for the second straight year.

Seattle also has a lot of holes on their team, despite finishing with an impressive record last season. Their offensive line is certainly a glaring issue that they will need to deal with this season. The Seahawks ranked 29th in sacks allowed per game last season, as Russell Wilson was taken down an average of 3.1 times. That number would’ve been even higher if Wilson didn’t have a Houdini-level of escapability.

The Seahawks also had issues on the defensive side of the football, as they allowed the 22nd most yards per game at 377.8.

Without a first round draft pick, the Seahawks were hardly able to retool this offseason. Signing free agent pass rusher Aldon Smith should certainly give their defensive line a boost, but that won’t be enough to fix all of their defensive woes.

Now that the Seahawks will face a first place schedule in 2021, a lot of their underlying issues will be brought to the forefront this season.

WynnBET has their odds to win Super Bowl 56 set at +2500.
