Oilers vs. Stars Prediction and Odds (Oilers Win in High-Scoring Affair)
By Joe Summers
The 35-23-4 Oilers saw a five-game winning streak snapped last night in an overtime loss to the Avalanche and get set for a quick turnaround against the 34-24-3 Dallas Stars tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST.
Dallas nabbed a 3-2 win over the Capitals on Sunday but has only won twice in its last six, but Edmonton is traveling from Colorado to Dallas on no rest and will be playing in its third game in four nights.
The Stars beat the Oilers 4-1 back in November - can they pull off another win at home or will Edmonton stay hot behind an elite offense?
Here are the odds over at WynnBET as we look for value in this Oilers vs. Stars matchup:
Oilers vs. Stars Odds and Total
Moneyline:
- Oilers +105
- Stars -125
Puck line:
- Oilers +1.5 (-210)
- Stars -1.5 (+170)
Total:
- 6.0 (Over -120/Under +100)
Oilers vs. Stars Prediction and Pick
Look out, because Edmonton's offense seems to have found its footing. They Oilers have scored six goals or more in three of their last four and are averaging just under five goals per game over their last six. Covering the puck line in each of those six games, the Oilers are charging up the Pacific Division standings and are just a few games back of Calgary for the division lead.
However, the Stars have been one of the league's best teams at home. They're 20-8 at the American Airlines Center and are catching an Oilers squad that's just 1-4 on no rest. Defense and goaltending have been Edmonton's Achilles' Heel and that wart may rear its ugly head tonight. I'm expecting a lot a goals here.
The over is 12-3 in Dallas' last 15 home games and 6-3 in the Oilers' last nine. Mikko Koskinen, expected to start for Edmonton in goal tonight, has given up at least three goals in four of his last five stars.
I'm loving the value on the over, though I'll admit I can't help but take a shot on the Oilers as underdogs as well. Over the last 10 games, they're just playing much better than Dallas. Edmonton leads the Stars in goals per game, goals allowed per game, shots per game, and shots allowed per game over that stretch and will be hungry after a narrow loss to Colorado last night.
Pick: Oilers +105 and Over 6 (-120)
