The Kansas State Wildcats are set to host their Big 12 rivals, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, tonight at the Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.

The pair have equal 10-10 overall records and are neck-and-neck in the Big 12 standings. That is not to say that they are competing for a good spot in the standings with a combined 5-11 record in conference play. But, they are separated by just one game in the win column. The Cowboys are sixth in the conference while the Wildcats come in at ninth as of today.

Despite a higher ranking, the Cowboys are entering this game in rough shape having lost three in a row straight up and two in a row against the spread. In their last seven games, they are just 2-5 ATS. The Wildcats, at least, are doing a better job during that span with a 3-2 record against the spread in their last five games.

Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State Prediction and Pick

It is tough to predict what the Cowboys will do on any given night because they never had anything to play for this year.

The team was handed a one-year postseason ban in June of 2020 and failed an attempt to appeal that decision. Therefore, even if they went undefeated this year, they would not be eligible for the NCAA Tournament.

Having said that, for teams playing for nothing but pride, they don’t look bad at 10-10. My main issue with them in this game, and the likely reason they are underdogs, is the injuries the team is dealing with.

The Cowboys will be down at least two key players including Bernard Kouma and Chris Harris Jr. Bryce Williams, the team’s second-leading scorer, is questionable with a leg injury and his availability for tonight is unknown. This is a pretty big deal, and, should he not suit up, makes K-State a strong bet.

Ok-State’s offense was already one of the worst in the conference and without their second-leading scorer might be left in the dust by Kansas State.

Nijel Pack is the key to success for the Wildcats in my opinion and I think the sophomore guard has a night against the Cowboys. With averages of 16.8 points per game, 2.3 assists, and 3.5  rebounds, he is the most dangerous weapon K-State has on offense and needs to perform well tonight.

I think he and the Wildcats pull through and get a win and cover as two-point favorites at home.

Pick: Kansas State -2 (-110)
