Olympic Hockey: USA vs. China Prediction and Odds
The Men's Olympic Hockey tournament has officially begun in China. Russia Olympic Committee got things started off with a 1-0 win over Switzerland, and then Denmark followed it up with a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic.
The hosts will get their tournament underway on Thursday night (Thursday morning for us in North America) when they take on the United States. Puck drop is set for 8:10am EST.
As you can probably guess, the Americans are still set as heavy favorites in this matchup, despite not having any NHL players on the roster. Let's take a look at the odds for the game, courtesy of WynnBET.
USA vs. China Olympic Hockey Odds and Total
Moneyline:
- USA -10000

- China +2.5 (-115)

USA vs. China Olympic Hockey Prediction
The United States are -10000 favorites, which means you'd have to bet $10,000 just to profit $100 on an American win. I'm obviously not going to recommend you do that, so you should look at the -2.5 puck line at -140 (bet $140 to profit $100) instead.
I'm not going to pretend that I know the ins and outs of the Chinese hockey team, in fact, this is the first year that they've been in the Men's hockey tournament. ESPN broke down their strange path to the Olympics, which included recruiting fringe professionals at the tail end of their career.
There's no doubt in my mind that USA will demolish this team from start to finish. -140 on the -2.5 puck line is extremely generous.
